Cake Smash Prep Guide

What to Expect

Please arrive to your session on time, I am usually there about 30-45 minutes early to get your backdrop set up and ready to go. Expect to be at my studio from 30-45 minutes, more difficult babies may take closer to an hour due to the breaks needed to calm them down or get them more comfortable in their surroundings.

I will provide the cake, I always ask if there are any known food allergies. My baker is very good at what she does and is capable of baking to specific needs and allergies. Even with no food allergies, it is very common for babies to break out in a little red reaction from the frosting, this is totally normal, especially for babies who already have sensitive skin or eczema. However, in the event of a full on allergy to the cake I do recommend you call your pediatrician immediately and leave my studio to seek care. I also have it included in your contract that I, as well as the baker are not responsible or liable for any reactions that may happen after consuming the cake.

Please do practice giving your baby cake or frosting the week before if you feel inclined to do so. Most babies will gag on the texture of the frosting; so please don't be alarmed if that happens.

If you are a mama who actively cleans babies hands, and baby is used to that, they may not even want to get their hands dirty and if they do get them dirty, they may get upset and cry because they want you to clean their hands. I do have a spoon that I will also give babies about 5 minutes after I let them try to smash the cake on their own first.

If your cake smash includes bath time, I will provide the towels; however you are also more than welcome to bring a towel from home as well.
